  • 9722-26-1. Elevated parking garage. Pidgeon (sic) Hole Parking, at its original location at 801 SW Stark. The view is looking northeast to the the corner of SW 9th & Stark. The structure extends the full block down to SW Park. This picture was taken in the summer of 1954, before the entire structure was moved two blocks south to 820 SW Alder in the mid-1950’s. The mis-spelling of Pigeon was the least of their problems, the reason they went out of business is because the unreliable elevator marooned customer’s cars on the upper levels until repairs could be completed. The lot included a Texaco Gas Station. (source: license plate is 1954, city directory searches, interview with Dave Hite who worked there when they went out of business)
