They had a contract for drydocking , bottom work, opening up lines and machinery preparation - see Oregonian January 21, 1966 pg. 42). (USS Red Oak Victory, AK235, commissioned in December, 1944, is the only World War II Victory Ship built by the Kaiser Shipyards that is restored. The ship saw service in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. In 1996, by an Act of Congress, title to the SS Red Oak Victory was conveyed to the Richmond Museum Association (Richmond Museum of History).
